This was my first attendance at a Business Network Meeting and I found it very informative. The presentations were very good and gave a clear insight into the presenters business endeavours and work backgrounds. I was able to take a lot of suggestions and ideas away with me and I look forward to being of assistance, in some way, to other people in the near future.

Johnny, I have commented on the individual Facebook pages of the 3 participants on Tuesday evening. I complimented all three of them on very superior presentations, together with the fact that all three of them are extremely professional and have amazing work backgrounds.
I particularly liked the idea of Leitirm Life Magazine which will make a very welcome addition to the Newsagent’s shelves for both local and non-local residents. Also, perfect timing for publication with many tourists in the area. I can imagine all the local hotels and guest houses will stock Leitrim Life as it will be a very high quality way of publishing local happenings and services.

The speed networking was a good, though slightly nerve-wracking experience! Even though the time was short, I got to know what many people were involved in. I am delighted to get the chance to give you feedback on networking meeting. It was brilliant. I would hope that we could do it again to network with some of the members we did not meet face to face at that meeting. How it worked for me with the supported employment service we provide in the North West was – publicising our service to employers by promoting both recruiting suitable people for their companies which can include training and also giving the information of the service provided for people with disabilities who they may know through family and friends. One employer I met there has actually asked me to set up a work experience placement and possible job for a client who they would know. I am working on this at present. I also spoke to a member of BNI Leitrim who has invited me to attend a meeting as his guest and say a few words about our service. Doing this speed networking definitely increased my confidence in talking about my work. Thank you. As I said before you and Nicola are doing a brilliant job. Well done. Dympna

It was a great evening at the speed networking in Ramada

To make it even better for future I suggest
Spreading out chairs so people can hear each other
Give 5 mins per discussion (instead of 2-3)
Network with 10 others (50mins total)
Set the Framework for the speed networking in advance
1. Introuctions (A 30 secs and B 30 secs)
2. A gets advice from B on progressing their Business (2 mins)
3. B gets advice from A on progressing their Business (2 mins)
Use a Whistle or distinct anchor to move.

Re future meetings – I suggest sourcing the best facilitator available on traditional Sales & Marketing (Cold calling, Creating Flyers and Briachure packs – marketing material, Time management, Business Structure & focus, Successful Business Models )

Thanks Johnny for your input & preparation for monthly meetings & am looking forward to seeing the cost saving ideas up on the site for last night’s event, please think about the proposal to run (or associate the Business Network or some members of) with Gerry Duffy & Ken Whitelaw in Lough Rynn, Sunday , August 1st . The associated web site is http://www.32marathons.com. Ray D’arcy is due to run with these guys either in Cavan town on the Saturday or in Lough Rynn on the Sunday. If D’arcy decides for Lough Rynn (which you’d hope and expect he would), some positive exposure for Leitrim should be possible & given that Leonard Cohen is playing in Lissadell on Saturday & Sunday night with Westlife there too, we in Sligo-Leitrim should look to promote our area in an understated but effective manner.
