Cost wise to sell online a business needs digital security, an online credit card facility and their own software and systems then there’s the complexity of setting something like this up. ‘Because of fraud issues the rules are very strict and prohibitive for small business as for example they have to be able to demonstrate evidence of previous online sales,’ says Garreth. With all the fear associated with online fraud the shopinleitrim.com business takes away the fear and the risk as everything is managed for you for a small cost of 5% commission and there are no other associated costs so it’s a fantastic opportunity for companies to sell locally and globally. Garreth approached Leitrim County Enterprise Board with his plan for the business and they provided him with an invaluable grant in the setting up stages.
